LexisNexis Risk Solutions Extends Risk Intelligence LexisNexis Launches Know Your Agent Intelligence to Detect AI-Driven Digital Activity

LexisNexis Risk Solutions introduces Know Your Agent intelligence as agentic traffic surges more than 750% in the first half of 2026, raising new challenges for digital identity verification and fraud prevention.

LexisNexis Launches Know Your Agent Intelligence to Detect AI-Driven Digital Activity

LexisNexis Risk Solutions has expanded its digital identity and fraud prevention capabilities with the introduction of Know Your Agent (KYA) intelligence, designed to help organizations identify and assess AI agents operating on behalf of individuals and businesses. The development comes as AI agents increasingly participate in digital interactions, creating new challenges for organizations seeking to distinguish legitimate automated activity from malicious automation.

The new Know Your Agent intelligence introduces an additional layer of agentic insights to LexisNexis Risk Solutions’ existing digital identity and fraud prevention platform. It enables organizations to recognize when AI agents interact with their digital services and incorporate those activities into established risk assessment and decision-making workflows, rather than treating agentic activity as a separate risk category. Many LexisNexis Risk Solutions customers are already using KYA intelligence in their existing risk management decisions.

According to an analysis of global digital transactions by LexisNexis Risk Solutions, agentic traffic increased by more than 750% in the first half of 2026 alone. The company expects this growth to continue as individuals and organizations increasingly adopt AI agents to perform everyday activities, including online shopping.

However, identifying agent activity remains an immediate challenge because most personal AI agents do not currently declare themselves as agents. Organizations must therefore distinguish agent-driven interactions from other forms of digital traffic. Beyond detection, they also need to establish who or what an agent represents, whether its activity has been authorized, whether its behaviour is consistent with that authority and whether the wider context of an interaction indicates that it is legitimate.

The challenge becomes more complex when control shifts between a person and an AI agent during a digital journey. Such interactions require continuous visibility to understand how activity evolves and whether it remains within the scope of the authorization granted.

LexisNexis Risk Solutions is addressing this requirement through the scale and connectivity of its Risk Intelligence Network. Instead of evaluating AI-agent activity as an isolated interaction, the approach examines it alongside the identities, devices, networks, behavioural patterns and relationships associated with digital activity. This provides additional context for risk decisions.

The connected intelligence approach incorporates agent detection into real-time risk decisions while helping establish a foundation for more advanced agent identity and authorization capabilities as AI agents, standards and use cases continue to evolve.

The growing use of autonomous AI agents also presents potential risks for organizations, particularly in the form of authorized push payment fraud and account takeover attacks. Malicious agents can dynamically learn from successful and unsuccessful attempts, allowing subsequent attacks to become more targeted and increasingly frequent.

For organizations, the key consideration is not whether all AI agents should be trusted, but whether a particular agent should be allowed to perform a specific action in a given context. While legitimate agents are expected to become increasingly involved in digital customer journeys, the appropriate response will depend on the agent's intended activity, the circumstances surrounding the interaction and the organization's own risk policies.

KYA intelligence enables organizations to incorporate agentic activity into their existing decision-making workflows and determine whether an interaction should be allowed, authenticated, reviewed or rejected.

“Agentic commerce is moving quickly from experimentation into the mainstream,” said Grayson Clarke, chief commercial officer at LexisNexis Risk Solutions. “Agentic transactions globally more than doubled again in the last quarter, driven primarily by personal agents. Some businesses are enabling agents to transact on consumers’ behalf, while others are restricting their activities, and many are still determining the right approach. We have already seen firsthand how a global financial institution used our detection capabilities to help identify agentic activity and prevent it from executing sensitive transactions.”

LexisNexis Risk Solutions analysed more than 116 billion digital transactions globally in 2025 through its LexisNexis® Digital Identity Network®. This provides the company with a broad view of how human, automated and increasingly agentic interactions are evolving across digital platforms.

During the year, the network detected 4.9 billion automated bot attacks, representing a 59% increase compared with the previous year. This scale reflects the role LexisNexis Risk Solutions plays in helping many of the world's largest financial institutions, merchants and digital businesses assess risks associated with digital interactions.

Mike Woodberry, senior vice president of product and analytics at LexisNexis Risk Solutions, said managing risk in the agentic economy would require more than detecting AI agents.

“Managing risk in the agentic economy will require more than agent detection alone. The real challenge is establishing context: what is acting, who or what it represents, whether it is authorized and what it is attempting to do. Our vision for KYA is to extend established risk intelligence into the agentic economy, helping give organizations the flexibility to apply the appropriate response to each interaction rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all risk assessment,” Woodberry said.

Woodberry further stated that organizations should not need to develop an entirely new risk strategy every time digital interactions evolve. He added that introducing another layer of agentic insights into the existing identity and fraud prevention platform would allow customers to build on the capabilities they already use while preparing for the next generation of digital interactions.
